Fuller Long has secured listed building consent at appeal for internal works to a Grade II listed building in Westminster, which included the opening up of the mansard ceiling, installation of recessed spotlights, the provision of a suspended ceiling and installation of glazed screen at top floor level.
Fuller Long Planning Director Juliet Heap, along with our Heritage specialists, demonstrated that the proposed alterations were entirely in keeping with the internal character of the house and were, in any event, fully reversible.
The appeal statement also demonstrated, through case law and precedent, that the Council had applied its policies inconsistently and Listed Building Consent has been granted in recent years for similar alterations nearby.
Juliet says “It has been a really interesting project to work on and it’s been brilliant to be able to help the client who previously faced a history of refusals. Ultimately we were able to guide and advise the client on the refused application and put a heritage case together to successfully win the case for him at appeal.”
This is our third consecutive appeal to be approved at this particular property and represents a 100% success rate, which we’re clearly very proud of.
