Fuller Long were delighted to assist Chalgrove Artisan Distillery with their planning application for the change of use from a light industrial unit (Use Class B1c) to a gin distillery (sui generis) and ancillary office.

Our planning consultant demonstrated how the change of use would provide an opportunity for a small, locally owned business to grow and generate employment opportunities as well as bring a currently vacant building back into use whilst adding to the diverse mix of businesses already within the business park. We also set out the detailed reasoning why the introduction of a gin distillery is entirely consistent with the objectives of the adopted South Oxfordshire Core Strategy and Local Plan.

Permission granted for a Change of Use Application for a Gin Distillery in Chalgrove, Oxford

Chalgrove Artisan Distillery was established August 2017 and is a locally owned family business that distills neutral grain spirit into gin. They have achieved growth in their business by selling their gins to the licensed trade and retailers and at festivals, markets and events in Oxfordshire and beyond. In response to increasing demand and recent business success, which includes winning awards, Chalgrove Artisan Distillery were looking to expand their business by moving it to the application site.
